Case Filed in New York for Victim of Ephedrine
In 1998, Anne Marie Capati joined a gym in New York to work out and perhaps lose a few pounds several months after delivering her second child. She paid extra for the services of a trainer who was also touted as a "nutritionist" by the gym. This employee had Anne Marie taking several different dietary supplements, including ephedra and some five others, on a daily basis. In fact, the trainer/nutritionist even took Anne Marie to a nutrition store to purchase the supplements. The trainer knew that she had high blood pressure and was taking prescription medication. One day, despite Anne Marie stating that she was not feeling well, he urged her to work out anyway. A few minutes later, she suffered a massive bleed in the brain and died later that same day. Therefore, in this case we are not only suing the suppliers of ephedra and other substances she was taking which contributed to her stroke, but also the gym and the trainer.
